Personal Success Tip – You Need Persistence
By admin | April 4, 2009
“There are four simple steps which lead to the habit of PERSISTENCE. They call for no great amount of intelligence, no particular amount of education, and but little time or effort. The necessary steps are…. 3. a mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances.” . – Napoleon Hill from Think And Grow Rich
Once We Start – The Obstacles Begin
It seem that once we’ve made our plans and announced them to the world , all sorts of obstacles come at us. A young lady this week told me how her husband was complaining about her new found habit of getting up an hour earlier than he does. She uses this extra time to accomplish her daily planning and some objective related to her Life Goals. It’s interesting how the obstacles sometimes come in the form of those who we care about the most. “Why are you spending so much time on this?” “Why can’t you be like everyone else” “We all want to improve, but why do spend money on this stuff?” The list of questions can seem endless. Questions from our friends and family can be painful and really wear you down, if you let it.
I’m sure that our love ones really do care about us, they often just don’t understand why we would give the TV or cocktail party or whatever to achieve our personal success goals. I certainly don’t suggest that you isolate yourself from your friends and family and live the life of a hermit. In truth, just about everyone I know can relate to the fact that people in our lives just don’t “get it.”. Make sure you share your personal success goals with those around you and know that if Napoleon Hill needed to write about this subject back in 1937, it’s not exactly a new challenge. Whatever you do, you must persist if you are going to accomplish your personal success goals.

One of the keys to success is association. Going for your goals does not mean ditching your friends or family but it will require some sacrifice, especially if you have a very close knit relationship. Every dream comes with a price. You always have to ask your self, are the five people closest to me going in the same direction? It has been said your income, health, personal success are the average of the 5 closest people you associate with. So to achieve whatever you want you may need to start associating with people who are going in the same direction and/or already have what you want.
