<p>Today is the day I turn 55 years young and I have more than 300 fr.ee gifts for you today. But more about that in a minute.</p>
<p>I want to talk to you for a minute about measuring your level of personal success. There are a lot of ways to do it. Money, fame, professional awards are all ways to keep score and track how you&#8217;re doing.  However, there are better ways. Ways that are much more meaningful and significant. This morning my wife gave me a birthday that really made my day.  No, it wasn&#8217;t the pretty picture or the &#8220;Hallmark&#8221; verse.  It was the signature. Just a few words.</p>

<p>Sure, people have used the Law of Attraction to help them in many areas of life, from love and relationships to career to health. But wealth seems to be the area of priority for most people, and ironically, it also seems to be the area most people find least success in. It almost feels like there’s a correlation…</p>
<p>I’m curious to see if I’ve somehow hit the nail on the head with this observed correlation, so I’ll be interested to know on a scale of 1-10, how much focus have you put into expanding your wealth by using the Law of Attraction? And, on a scale of 1-10, how successful have you been with the Law of Attraction to attract money into your life?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was recently asked how I was doing on my <a href="http://tipsforpersonalsuccess.com/preparation/daily-scheduling-of-your-personal-success-goals/" target="_blank">personal weight loss goals</a>.  The answer is “pretty darn good, thank you”! Although I&#8217;m not yet at my target weight, I have released  34 pounds since the January 1, 2009. I may actually be contributing to global warming by releasing that many calories from my body to the planet!</p>
<p>During my yearly physical in June my physician was pleased, even though he went through all the reasons I need to loss some additional weight. All the numbers that are suppose to be up are and all the numbers that are suppose to be down are headed that way.</p>
<p>Life is interesting isn&#8217;t? As we age the things that should be thick get thin – like my hair.  Yet at the same time the things that should be thin – like my waist – get thick. Life is just a grand comedy, make sure you take time to laugh.</p>

<h2>Simpler is better!</h2>
<p>With all the daily rushing around and stress in our lives, we can often find ourselves yearning for a slower, simpler way of living.  If your life has come to resemble an endless sprint, take a look at the suggestions below to bring a greater sense of calm and simplicity into your life.</p>
<h3>1)	Less is more.</h3>
<p>It’s amazing how much “stuff” we can accumulate in our homes because we think they’ll contribute to our lives.  Although it&#8217;s true that we gain enjoyment from material possessions, the more we accumulate the greater burdened we often feel.  Eventually we find ourselves living under a constant cloud of confusion, scattered thoughts and stress.</p>
<p>Begin immediately to clear out the possessions you no longer need, want, or use. Donate them to a local charitable organization.  This accomplishes two things:  first, you’ll feel lighter and less cramped in your home; and you’ll also feel good about giving these items to people who can actually use them.</p>
<h3>2)	Cut down your activities.</h3>
<p>An active life is good, but not if it leaves you feeling drained and exhausted!  Many of us take on more obligations and even recreational activities than necessary.</p>
<p>Take a few minutes to think about the things you do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.  Do you really need to do all of them?  Have you taken on responsibilities that really aren’t yours?  Are you spending time on activities you no longer enjoy?  Make a list of at least a few activities or obligations that you can eliminate, and then go ahead and do so – even if you have to cut them down gradually.</p>
<h3>3)	Spend time in silence.</h3>
<p>An easy, straight forward way to live a life of simplicity and ease is to shut out the mental and physical “noise” of your life on a regular basis.  Sitting in silence for just a few minutes can drastically reduce your stress levels and leave you feeling centered, calm and happy.</p>
<p>You can boost the effectiveness of this activity by spending this time in a park or other natural setting.  While not completely silent, natural settings have soothing sounds like running water, singing birds and wind sighing through trees – which automatically trigger feelings of peace and well-being.</p>
<p>Living a simpler life is about learning how to slow down and connect more deeply with your true self.  Whether you do that by simplifying your environment, getting control of your schedule or enjoying a quiet break each day, the result is the same – a happier and more peaceful you!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Why do we say  &#8220;success is a state of mind&#8221;.  Many would argue that success is a natural result of proper planning, preparation and focused action. That viewpoint certainly isn&#8217;t completely wrong – but there are also many exceptions to disprove that &#8220;rule&#8221;.  Have you ever seen two people attempt the same objective, using the same methods and only one of them succeeds?  Is it sheer luck?  Timing?  Tenacity?  More often than not, it&#8217;s a person&#8217;s mind-set that determines whether they fail or succeed.</p>
<p>What are do we mean when we say “mind-set”, anyway?  Generally, mind-set refers to your predominant state of mind, or way of thinking day to day.  It&#8217;s what you think about, focus on, and expect from your daily experiences. Think negatively, expect the worst, feel pessimistic about your options and that&#8217;s exactly what you&#8217;ll seem to draw into your life.  Likewise, think positively, expect the best and focus on a successful outcome and you get it most of the time.</p>
<p>Makes sense, right?  But how exactly does this work?  Why is a success mind-set so important?  There are three big reasons:</p>
<p>1)  A success mind-set boosts your self-belief and makes you confident.</p>
<p>A lack of belief in yourself usually comes along with a sense of powerlessness and futility, which is the exact opposite of a success mind-set. This can result in a “victim” mentality.  Lack of confidence means you see no point in trying to be successful because it won&#8217;t happen anyway.  This type of mind-set is a clear recipe for failure.</p>
<p>Having a true success mind-set, means you believe in yourself and your abilities.  You believe you can succeed at nearly anything you try, and you&#8217;re willing to give it your best shot.  Even better, the more you do try, the more confidence and self-belief you build until you&#8217;re virtually unstoppable!</p>
<p>2)  A success mind-set makes you persistent.</p>
<p>Without a success mind-set, one failure is enough to convince you that pursuing your goals is a waste of time. Persistence and determination don&#8217;t exist in your world.  If you don&#8217;t become a raging success the first time you try, you decide that it simply wasn&#8217;t meant to be.  Unfortunately, few things worth having are obtained so easily!For those with a success mind-set, failure is not the end of the story &#8211; it&#8217;s just one more way that didn&#8217;t work out the way you planned.  Those with a true success mind-set know that the only true failure occurs when you quit trying.</p>
<p>3)  A success mind-set results in more fruitful actions.</p>
<p>Ever been confused because you didn&#8217;t know the best way to approach a specific goal?  Maybe you knew the best course of action but you felt intimidated by some of the action steps required.  As a result, you may have kept sabotaging your efforts as you searched in vain for an easier or less frightening way to your goal. With a true success mind-set, you&#8217;ll always take the most effective action steps that will lead directly to your goal. You&#8217;ll also have the inner confidence and determination to pursue them. Which after all, is a sure recipe for . . . you guessed it; success!</p>
<p>If I had to sum up how to develop a success mind-set into as few words as possible, I&#8217;d say this:</p>
<p>- Go for your dreams.<br />
- Think positively.<br />
- Believe in yourself.<br />
- Believe you can do better.<br />
- Learn, grow and develop yourself.<br />
- Be willing to take chances.<br />
- Give it your all.<br />
- Expect the best in every situation.<br />
- Be willing to fail.<br />
- When you fall down, get back up and try again.</p>
<p>Keep doing that and you can&#8217;t help but become successful, from the inside out.</p>

<h3>Tip &#8211; Schedule Your Personal Success Goal First</h3>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Here&#8217;s the example I promised you of how I integrate my weight loss goals into my daily routine. The first thing I do when I start work is to spend 10 – 30 minutes on planning my day. Like everyone else, I have meeting requests or other issues beyond my control that require my response or attention. Part of the planning process is transferring the tasks from my “to-do” list to my daily schedule. Believe me, if it&#8217;s not on my schedule – it doesn&#8217;t get done! Since health is my number one goal, my workout is the first task added to my daily schedule.  Normally I schedule a noon workout (somewhere between 11:30 am &#8212; 1:00 pm). Occasionally I have to fit my workouts in after the workday or early in morning.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Further, I track whether or not I completed the workout, what I did during the workout and the time it took me to complete the workout. So every time I start a workout, I&#8217;m focused on what I&#8217;m trying to accomplish and when I&#8217;ll be done. I find this tracking vital to keep me progressing and even more important when I&#8217;m going through a difficult period. It&#8217;s really very straight forward, since I follow a designed routine I just have to fill in a few numbers and I&#8217;m ready to go.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Each night as part of my evening routine, I lay out my workout clothes and prepare the food I take to work. These days it takes around 15 minutes to do both chores. This helps me in the morning since I don&#8217;t have to bumble around trying to get ready to head out the door to greet the day!</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Well, that&#8217;s enough for today, next time we&#8217;ll discuss another set of tips to help you accomplish your personal success goals.</p>

<h3 style="margin-bottom: 0in;">An Example From My Own Personal Success Master Plan</h3>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">At age 53 I can&#8217;t take my current or future health for granted. Since my dad died of a heart attack at 49, I&#8217;m personally aware that things can literally change in a heart beat. Despite this knowledge I really haven&#8217;t always made an effort to take care of myself. Therefore, one of my personal success life goals is to stay healthy. After all, it&#8217;s pretty difficult to accomplish much of anything if you&#8217;re sick.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Based on the above personal success life goal, I set a five year enabling objective of reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. This year I plan to loose 24 pounds as my physician tells me 2 pounds a month is a sustainable weight loss goal.  So I now know my weight loss needs to average ½ a pound a week.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Now, what am I going to do to accomplish this weight loss? Why I&#8217;m going to “eat right and exercise” of course. To ensure that I do eat right and exercise, I&#8217;ll need to build proper diet and exercise into my daily schedule.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Next post I&#8217;ll demonstrate how I integrate my personal success goals into my daily schedule.</p>

<h3 style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Tip 2  For Writing Your Personal Success Master Plan</h3>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">In the last tip we discussed writing down your “Bucket List”, a list of all the personal success goals that you wished to accomplish during your lifetime. Now that we have the complete list, we&#8217;re going to make a cut. Pick the top ten items. Some people scratch off the personal success goals they want to eliminate, others  hi lite the ten they wish to keep. I&#8217;ve also know people who rewrite the goals on post-it-notes or index cards so they can place them on a table and shuffle them around until they get the top ten. Whatever method you use, you must get down to the top ten.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">You may find this takes a little effort, but please hang with me.  Again it&#8217;s best if you can do this at one sitting. Keep working until you&#8217;re down to ten. Now take a break, next post we&#8217;ll continue the process.</p>
